The bad guys in this show… the Canaanites, take the position that evil (like good) is God’s direct creation. This, to me, is the main argument/theme of the show. Read on to find out more about the potential series. It’s evidence, contextual examples, of sins (aka evil), inextricably co-existing with the good deeds. 30 Coins just finished the first season, but fans are already wondering about a season 2. Around 6 episodes in, I finally think I get why the subplots are there. Yes, the show has 2-3 running subplots, the primary one being focused on the hero and heroine (ala Indiana Jones and Marion).
There’s actually not a lot of graphic violence. The town is ensnared in an everlasting fog, suffering events reminiscent of older horror tales from Spain. The opening credits, while off-putting to some, are not representative of what you’ll see in the series. A character is sucked into the ground while dreaming, like in A Nightmare on Elm Street. But maybe this one would be worth the exception to the rule? Let me know in the comments below.Īgree with what Lisa said….

The outlandish blood and bullets might just be trappings for the real focus for the film which might just be the origins of good and evil. From lex de la Iglesia comes this bone-chilling horror series starring Eduard Fernndez as a priest who is exiled to a small Spanish town.
But I have this feeling that the show is more about God, and his allowance for evil. Apparently the silver is sort of the antecedent to the Holy Grail of sorts.
We finally get to see where Father Vergara comes from in the fourth hour of 30 Coins HBO. What is this all about? And what are these coins?Īpparently, the coins are the 30 pieces of silver that Judas was given as payment for his betrayal of Christ. The fourth episode of 30 Coins HBO explores Father Vergara’s past and a formidable enemy. Along the way he is shot numerous times, over and over again, and yet he keeps going. In a sort of Matrix-esque, Neo invading the final citadel sort of kick-off, we watch as a man, with only a pistol, decimates an entire squad of security in a bank in order to retrieve a single coin. I’ll be honest, the opening is pretty crazy, and also extraordinarily intriguing.
